At long last, Divinity’s Reach once more. The apprentice had several things which she needed to clear in the town and thus Ashrael accompanied her. However, as Eloise disappeared to tend to her mundane matters, Ashrael brought himself to walk again upon the gardens of the city. He remembered talking to the first of his comrades in this very place. Soon, he felt, soon the cycle would be drawn to a close. He looked at the moss covered pillars for a long time, pondering of their decay and restoration. And how even the moss eventually would dry up and be blown away. And then he walked, wandering aimlessly around the parks until he stumbled across the strange looking figure. The Sylvari’s body was dark and her garments were of a darkened silken red. He stood observing the figure for a moment as she traced the floor with her staff, time and time again as if it bore purpose. She then noticed Ashrael’s fixed gaze, concealed behind the mask. “Yes?”
“Why?”
She looked at him with her blackened eyes and replied “Why what?”
“Your movements have a purpose to them, do they not? Why?” He asks again. She simply smirks coldly. “My purpose is my own.”
Ashrael nods “Were it a perfect world, all purposes would be each owns. However, thus I ask. I wish to know.”
“You are too curious human.” The Sylvari did not break the intent stare and neither did Ashrael move. “Curiosity is never something to be ashamed of. Do you not desire knowledge? Is that not something which drives your brothers?”
“Knowledge is all I desire.”
“To what purpose then?” He tilts his head to the side. The sylvari kept her cold smirk “You ask too many questions, Human. But I will indulge you and yet… you will find that I have very little to do with most of my kind.“
“Enlighten me then, Sylvari.” Ashrael ‘s voice was just as cold and indifferent as the woman’s gaze.
“I am unbound by the same guides which bind both fronts of my kind. I walk a path between darkness and light, unbound by either Dream or Nightmare.” She speaks, retaining her rather amused smirk. “They say we are Soundless, unable to heed the call of the Dream, I say we are free to pursue knowledge as we see fit and true Purpose.”
Ashrael nodded and spoke “I see then you are unbound, shed of the Illusion of Purpose. Yet, you do not act upon it… you act cautious, which is good, however, you are also hostile, defending yourself rather than a purpose. What knowledge do you seek?”
“All of it.”
“I can surely show you knowledge, Sylvari. I have extent resources which you may utilize, however… you have not yet been instructed. You are close, I feel, but you are not yet perfected. There are things which you must still learn in order to progress.” His voice is calm and he remains fixed on the woman and yet her smirk never fades. “And what is it that you could possibly show me?”
“True purpose and a way to put it to play. Knowledge is not power as some would say, but rather potential. Potential is naught if not acted upon.” He asserted. “I will teach you to harness and put it into play, for the purpose of your choosing.”
The Sylvari grinned “I doubt you will have much to teach me, but if you do have the resources, I will atleast hear what you have to say.” And he replied “Hear and spread the word accordingly, Sylvari. For it is a truth and power inherent to us all. What is your name?”
“Issiyah.”
“Welcome then Issiyah, to the Brotherhood of the Wheel of Entropy. May it always turn in your favour.”
